Iva Dawn is the alter-ego of 27 year old singer-songwriter, WHITNEY MOWER.

Whitney grew up a Mormon in Provo, Utah, which has born artists such as Neon Trees, Imagine Dragons and Fictionist. At 18, she left the church and moved to Texas where she started playing music and writing fiction. In 2014, Whitney finished her master’s degree in Creative Writing at the University of Houston. Earlier this year, she traveled to Los Angeles to make her debut EP with GRAMMY award winning producer, TOM BILLER (Warpaint, Kate Nash).

On her debut EP of original songs, Whitney was joined by guitarist LUCAS GORHAM and renowned drummer MATT CHAMBERLAIN (Tori Amos, Brandi Carlile, Soundgarden).

The six (6) song debut EP, “The Only One,” will be released by indie label Triple Pop on February 10, 2015. The title single will be available exclusively on iTunes December 16, 2014.

Whitney’s songs feel retrospective in chord progression and melody; influenced by singers like Bobby Vinton and Julee Cruise, Whitney’s voice is classic and crooning. But the EP is not simply a time capsule from the 50s transported to the present day. The songs build upon traditional sounds from the past, but from the perspective of a modern female encountering the pitfalls of gender roles and plain and simple bad romance.
